Good morning, bloggers! Last time I posted I mentioned a resource that I have used within my intervention classroom. Today I want to discuss other administrative resources that could be used within the classroom. Most of these do not apply to my current classroom but would be useful in the everyday regular classroom.

In my current school, the use of software called engrade is actively used. This program allows teachers to input assignments completed in the classroom and then logging the percentage grade that each student earned. Access to these grades is available to anyone with a user name and password. Therefore, many of our parents will log in and check to see how the child is performing academically in the classroom. Over the years of using it, many parents have learned there is no longer an element of surprise when it comes time for midterms and reports cards to be issued.

Another software program that has been successfully utilized among some of our teachers is the mimio board. In using this smart board technology there are both pre-made activities as well as the ability to create an activity of the teacher's choosing to fit the needs within the lesson being taught. The interactive board gets the students up out of his/her seat to move objects around the screen, to write on the screen, or to click on specific items on the screen. The options for making an activity using the software is endless and I have been able to witness many educational/useful games, review activities, interactive lessons.

Integrating technology into the classroom is an ongoing learning process. However, with a group of colleagues and the support of the administration, the options are endless in how they can be incorporated. How do you use technology within your classroom? Any tips on how to begin the process of how to choose the best technology based on the lesson or unit being taught? My hope and desire is that we can come together and share thoughts about technology and how it can be used with such a high demand of technology in the working world! Happy technology trials!
